tourism at NHTV Breda University of Applied Sciences
Studying tourism at the NHTV was the next adventure I started after I had spent a gap year abroad, and this new chapter has turned out to be the greatest decision I could have made to combine more travelling with training to become a professional in the same industry.
During the first two years, I lived in Breda where I got to know and love the Dutch culture (excluding their food to be honest), became friends with people from all over the world, and, as part of the deal, followed courses on tourism and destination management. We also went on field trips to Albania and Macedonia as well as to Myanmar and Thailand. While especially the researches we conducted on-site and the company visits in the field were meaningful to understand what the studies are actually all about, these trips were so much fun and incomparable to anything I had done before!
After the second year, I decided to study at one of NHTVs partner universities in Barcelona, and afterwards I continued my journey to go to Bristol in the UK where I interned with the destination management organisation of the city. For me, this was the highlight of my studies so far because I was surprised by how well I was already prepared to actually work in the industry and besides, I realised that I would not be there without the opportunities the NHTV has offered me.
Today, I am studying a pre-master programme at the NHTV and I will write my thesis for the company I interned with.
